What Matters Most

Trying to figure out what matters most in life? Me too!

Sunny Halloween. Burrito then chocolate. Cult blasts the neighbors.

Sfmoma party sucks! Cash bar. I have no cash. "No balloons in building." Forced to remove costume. What next?

The problem with wearing a cardboard box is cutting the arm-holes high enough to be able to drink. Don't say I didn't warn you.

A great-looking Friday out there. I haven't been out yet, because I've started watching True Blood, Season 1. Thanks, Karen D, for the tip!

70 minutes on the phone changing from Comcast to Verizon. I'm afraid of the devil I don't know, but I'm saving $100/month!

My Balloon Boy costume arrived from Saskatoon in the mail today. It's basic, but so? (Thanks, Kaherawaks!) http://ping.fm/XJVBM

Went to noon yoga with a hangover. Not a stellar decision. Next time I think about going to yoga with a hangover, I'll just have a drink.

I had a tomato sandwich for breakfast. Because, among many weird-wonderful things about Oakland, late tomatoes are one. http://ping.fm/Bw9pm?pid=2572445&id=605469302

I'm gonna celebrate my Oakland house-sit by seeing Candy et al tonight at McNally's! http://ping.fm/DT38x

Delighted to see Amy Goodman's 'Breaking the Sound Barrier' at Costco. Rock on, Costco! I love Amy. Best independent journalist today.

Is anyone going to the SFMOMA thing this Friday? I'm thinking of going as Balloon Boy. But won't everyone? http://ping.fm/CkOzY

The Disney Museum is Awesome. Capital A. Put aside knowledge of Walt as anti-Semite and union buster. Enjoy the curatorial magic. Amazing.

Is this the last lovely-weather Sunday of 2009? Dunno, but Mom and I are headed to Disney Museum and then sightseeing at Crissy Field...

Sunny Friday.

American Idiot, the musical written by Green Day, at BRT for a few more weeks, is FREAKIN' AWESOME. The cast rocks it hard. Wow. Just - wow!

Andalusian sidecar at Cesar. Sun. Prep for American Idiot. No complaints.

7-3 victory tonight. Game ball to Derk for an amazing performance and Clo for her stellar debut at first. Nancy and Sluggo. Who knew?

Now that it's dark and cold by 7PM, it seems weird and wrong to go play softball. Yet, here I am, going to play softball. Habits.

Mom's birthday was delightful. She enjoyed herself to the full extent of the law. Thanks again, Normandie, Robin, and multiple Bormolinis!

(Clears throat. Sings.) "Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Mom... Happy birthday to you!"

Dinner at Sidebar w/Kent. He's leaving for an extended trip to China. Melancholy for me. I'll miss him at the same time I'm excited for him.

I just mowed the lawn for the first time since that episode of Mad Men.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

I ordered two books from Amazon. One on card games, one on sex. One for me, one for Mom. Hope I don't get confused and wrap the wrong one.

The wind is fierce in Novato - blowing buzzards out of redwood trees. They look pissed off. I mean, moreso than usual, even for buzzards.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Lovely dinner at Graffiti. Came home to discover iCal has eaten all of my future appointments. What will tomorrow bring? I don't know!

PowerPoint to revise, script to review, other script to review. Would like some yoga, even Elvis yoga, and maybe an episode of sweat.

A good day to hug people you love. (Yes, I suppose every day is a good day to hug the ones you love. But some days are better than others.)

Saturday, October 10, 2009

I'm gonna play racquetball for the first time since the 90's. I hope Kim doesn't kick my ass too badly. Mostly, I hope I don't hurt myself.

My fancy iPhone-docking-clock-radio gets good or bad FM reception depending on where I stand. Some things never change. Comforting, sort of.

Thursday, October 08, 2009

So, the Moon gets hit by a big, empty rocket at about 4:30AM my time. I hope she doesn't get too PO'd. "Hey, we're just lookin' for water!"

Is it okay for me to do two yoga classes in one day? I guess I'll find out, momentito...

Do I have any friends, or friends-of-friends, who are Flash designers who might be available for corporate work? Right now?

One guy running for city council in Novato is advertising on Facebook. I'm impressed. But most voters here are 90 or older, so good luck...

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

I am learning about percutaneous aortic valve replacement. Not for myself (I hope) but for others, many others...

Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Nancy&Sluggo win game one, 13-8, before a hometown crowd of 2, plus Tuffy the Dachsund. One game ball to Charlie and Howard, one to Rachel.

The Novato Farmers Market is done for the year. Crap, crap, crap. How will I get samosas? And cilantro chutney? And tomatoes? And etcetera?

I gotta buy me some athletic tape. I'm almost out, and it literally holds me together when I'm playing. Fall softball starts tonight!

Monday, October 05, 2009

Morning: work, bills, yoga. Afternoon: work, work, work. Question: does the Bay Area have the best yoga teachers in the world? Or what?

Sunday, October 04, 2009

Settling down with hot herb tea laced with Ancient Age and my first Jimmy Buffett book. Not exactly the right combo, but it'll do.

Downtown Novato is a ghost town. Restaurants open - with no one inside. Cars passing - with no one at the wheel. It's a spooky Sunday.

Slow, serene Sunday, spent mostly barefoot. Which makes me think, "I really need a pedicure."

Saturday, October 03, 2009

Peets, yoga, brunch. That's a good Saturday morning. Gonna check out the new Uptown Yoga Studio at 464 19th Street. Pretty darn uptown!

Friday, October 02, 2009

One white, one red. Dinner with Mark, Suzanne, and MARLOWE!
