What Matters Most

Trying to figure out what matters most in life? Me too!

I think I've successfully revised four scripts and found a viable way around 2008 paperwork woes. In any case -- time for The Offspring!

I'm on a shoot but had a chance to be online for one moment and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Karen P! Yay! Have fun, sweetie!

Coffee tastes EVEN BETTER at 4:15AM!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Oh, sigh. Actually, the alarm is set for 3:30 for a 5AM calltime. Oh, sigh.

No matter how good the cause - and the Alameda County Food Bank is good - the 4:30 alarm for 6AM calltime is a thing to be dreaded tomorrow.

As I COMPLETELY IGNORE my social media connections in order to do MY ACTUAL WORK, I am reminded of Forster's admonition: "Only connect."

It's Tuesday, and once again, we are struggling to find a woman softball player for tonight's 6:40 game in Berkeley. Oh, sigh. Anyone...?

I'm feeling particularly Dickensian today. "Shake me up, Judy!"

Monday, July 27, 2009

Had a great dinner with a new friend and biz partner. Lots of laughs. Who says business and pleasure don't mix? Not me!

Sunday, July 26, 2009

My cousin gets married next weekend, 8/8, in Escalon. Clearly, I must shop for a natty, cool, breathing outfit, not too-too, not too li'l.

Overcast skies. No ISS sighting. Time to watch 'Bleak House,' that utterly amazing 2005 BBC production from the pens of Dickens and Davies.

All of us, I'm sure, occasionally have meetings where someone higher up presses 'Reset.' Meanwhile, this Friday NYT crossword is killing me.

Thursday, July 23, 2009

Somehow, today was a multitasking day: script revisions, errands, more revisions, laundry, yet more script revisions, cleaning...

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Shooting all day today, then softball at 7:55 in Berkeley. Still one woman short, sadly...

Monday, July 20, 2009

I wonder out loud: who among my women Facebook friends plays softball and would be interested in co-ed games in Berkeley on Tuesday nights?

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I'm going to a 90th birthday party. No, not Mark Whelan's. (Happy birthday, Mark!)

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Sure, I was supposed to go to a great party at Mark and Petra's. But I need to chillax, as the hipsters said last season. So I will.

Friday, July 17, 2009

I love ripe cherries, like birdsong on my tastebuds, sweet light and airy.

Felt really strong in yoga today. Yay! On AtWT, that charming jackass Paul has amnesia, and now he's just plain charming. I want to be Paul.

Still brimful of ennui. Noon yoga will be good.

I'm in a pissy mood. Hoping benefit dinner at Mission Street Food will cheer me up. If not, we'll always have beer. http://ping.fm/Wh9AG

Especially for all my film and video friends, this confirms that yes, the bad dream can happen: NASA bulked its original Moon landing tapes!http://ping.fm/qwyfO

Exciting sports news: Nancy & Sluggo two-game win streak. Derk pitches shutout in 11-0 win. (Boring: NL loses 13th straight All Star game.)

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Shot list done. (Yay!) Time for early supper, then the drive to Berkeley for coed softball. I think we're one woman short. Anyone...?

Fingers and toes are tidier. Tummy has veggie bratwurst in it. Gotta work on a shot list for Thursday. Work - what's that again...?

I'm feeling depleted and out of sorts today. Clearly, it's time for a mani/pedi, followed by a protein-heavy lunch and more coffee.

Amusingly, I have misplaced my mother and Joe. They are somewhere on the ship. I dont know where.

Current position 38°37'51"N, 124°11'9"W, on heading 159°S. Calm seas. Beautiful moon. Can't wait to get home! But some sleep first...

"Ryder Cup Grand Final. 12 July 2009. Upon arrival you will be given teams. The teams will consist of the rest of the world vs. the USA."

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Double-decker bus tour of Victoria upcoming. Stay tuned.

Friday, July 10, 2009

I am in a laundromat. On the Sea Princess. And in fact, I needed quarters. The luxury life...

Reading 'Outliers.' I love everything Malcolm Gladwell writes.

First thing I saw this morning lloking East was a sweet little waterfall cascading down a steep, wooded glacial ravine. Must look out more.

Yes, AT&T is charging me .50 per text message aboard this ship, a mere 30 miles from shore. Sigh. Meanwhile, zip-lining today was fabulous!

Saturday, July 04, 2009

I'm trying to figure how much it's costing to text from my iPhone while onboard the lovely. Sea Princess. And what about data roaming? Sigh.

The captain announced distance, course, and weather. Captain-type-things, in other words. I recorded him, and will share that soon. Joy!

There are 2000 guests on board. Surely, not all want to use the workout room. But it feels like it. There are only six treadmills...

41°46'12"N, 125°35'42"W. Went yoga class led by instructor who sounded like Arnold. "Downward-facing dock" was, I thought, sea-yoga-speak.

So, I set off for Alaska and Palin immediately resigns. Should I have headed for D.C. sometime in 2001? I have yet to go there, too...

Happy 4th of July, on the early side. Signing off from somewhere off the coast of California. iPhone compass can't find a signal at moment!

Played shuffleboard. Ate sundae. Visited Internet cafe. Walked promenade. All amazing and delightful! Gray coast.

Sometimes I skip a morning shower, and I invariably regret it if I do. There are so few rituals in 21st century life. Plus, I gotta wake up.

Thursday, July 02, 2009

One of the cool things about the new iPhone is that I can tell you exactly where to find me when I'm lying on my bed: 38°6'22"N, 122°34'30"W

Why the Kindle is so worth it: needing summer vacation reading, I bought The Works of Joseph Conrad. For 0.80. Yes, eighty cents. Score!

Going to yoga. Then dates with post office, office, lunch, Costco, coffee... It's an errandy day.
